What is backflow?

Backflow happens when water flows backward through your plumbing system, potentially allowing contaminants to enter your clean water supply. Backflow preventer devices stop this from happening.

Why do I need backflow testing?

Most cities and water authorities require annual backflow testing to ensure your drinking water stays safe and your plumbing system remains code-compliant. Testing must be done by a licensed and ASSE-certified technician.

How often should I test my backflow preventer?

It’s required once per year in most municipalities. Your water provider or local authority may send you a reminder notice when testing is due.

How much does backflow testing cost?

We offer $95 flat-rate backflow testing for commercial customers throughout Westmoreland County. This price does exclude any municipal fee's.

Does my water company charge a fee?

Municipal Of Westmoreland County charges a $20 fee per device and PA American Charges a $13 fee per device. Please note this may change at any time.

How long does testing take?

A typical backflow test takes 20–30 minutes, depending on accessibility and the number of devices on your property.

What happens if my backflow device fails?

If your backflow preventer fails, we’ll provide a detailed report and offer affordable repair or replacement options to get you back in compliance quickly.

Who can perform backflow testing?

Only a licensed and ASSE-certified tester can perform and submit official backflow test reports to your municipality or water authority.
